I felt like the story was long and there was a lot to it, but I didn’t really know Abby on a deeper level. I just think that the story is that type of book, more on the surface. I didn’t find the amount of characters confusing but I either really loved them or really hated them. I think some would find the ending odd and anticlimactic but I liked it! As much as these movies are epic and impactful, it’s still fun to acknowledge that we can play around and poke fun at these worlds without turning in our superhero geek cards. “Shazam!” does just that with a moderately absurd premise and a witty self-awareness that most superhero franchises lack. We all need some entertaining satirical superhero content every now and again, and “Shazam!” fills that void. Then, when he’s caught up with the current moment in linear time, he shows up on that park bench, where Sam and Bucky notice him. Or, put another way, for Steve to stay in our reality without causing a parallel universe split, he has to have always been here twice without anybody finding out.

The bond between abby and her mother never failed to put a smile on my face. The love and devotion between the pair was as enviable as it was heartwarming. To see abby, a character that begins wondering if she is capable and worthy of love, be surrounded by love in all of its glorious forms partly eased the cynical parts of my heart, and that is no easy feat to do. Daters have—or appear to have—a lot more choices on a dating app in 2020 than they would have at a provincial dance party in rural England in the 1790s, which is good, until it’s bad. The human brain is not equipped to process and respond individually to thousands of profiles, but it takes only a few hours on a dating app to develop a mental heuristic for sorting people into broad categories.
Additionally, dozens of these scenes exist, so it’s only natural that not all will have entirely original content. At the end of the day, though, these scenes exist to acknowledge the cast, crew, and creatives that made the movie possible, in addition to getting fans excited for whatever comes next. Okay, maybe there are better ways, but it’s the easiest. Yet once the new film comes out, these scenes become obsolete and a lot less fun to rewatch — especially since fans will see these sequences twice in a row if their binge game is strong.

Not to take a pacifist stance, but there’s gotta be a better message than that. Baldacci tackles other social issues with the same sort of shallowness, but perhaps I’m asking to much from the genre. These 2 characters have become clichés of themselves. The story line wasn’t bad, but the canned responses, and the way the Real has turned into a predictable “bad-ass woman trying to prove herself in a man’s world” made this book a bore. “End Game” – Will Robie #5, by David Baldacci, is not up to the standard of the earlier Will Robie books, suffering from a wandering plot and less than credible story line. Will’s unaided and quick ‘disposal’ of 17 bad guys in just a few minutes at the beginning of the book was so unbelievable that it was surely facetious.
